Things To Do In Maui!

Maui's diverse landscapes are the result of a unique combination of geology, topography, and climate. Each volcanic cone in the chain of the Hawaiian Islands is built of dark, iron-rich/quartz-poor rocks, which poured out of thousands of vents as highly fluid lava, over a period of millions of years. Several of the volcanoes were close enough to each other that lava flows on their flanks overlapped one another, merging into a single island. Maui is such a "volcanic doublet," formed from two shield volcanoes that overlapped one another to form an isthmus between them.

Nerja is on the seashore some 50 kilometres from Málaga on the N340 coastal highway, and marks the eastern tip of Málaga's Costa del Sol. Once a sleepy fishing village, the town now has a population of over 12,000. Nerja boasts 16 kilometres of beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available here, including water skiing, scuba diving and sailing. Flanked by a dramatic mountain range, Sierra Almijara, to the east, the town has, fortunately, managed to avoid being blighted by the concrete high-rise scenario which has been the inevitable result of the tourist boom in some of the coastal resorts. The town's monuments include the 17th century Church of El Salvador, in a style which is a charming mixture of baroque and Moorish, or mudéjar, and the beautiful Gardens of Capistrano Playa, which descend to Burriana Beach. However, Nerja's most spectacular attraction is undoubtedly its fascinating caves, located just three kilometres from the centre of town. They include archaeological treasures such as paintings over 20,000 years old and other pre-historic remains. One of the enormous natural caverns has been transformed into a concert hall, where many performances are staged during the summer.

Makena State Park comprises 165 acres (0.7 km2) in Makena, south of Wailea on the island of Maui, Hawaii. Big Beach, also known as "Oneloa Beach" and "Makena Beach", is a popular spot for sunbathing and bodyboarding by both tourists and locals. Big Beach is 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long and more than 100 feet (30 m) wide. The shore is fairly protected from wind. The "Makena cloud" that stretches from the top of Haleakala to Kahoʻolawe is often overhead, cooling the sand. Little Beach, also known as "Puʻu Olai Beach" is a small beach just North of Big Beach separated by a steep lava outcropping (the tip of Puʻu Olai) and a 5 minute hike. On Sundays Little Beach is host to celebratory drumming and fire dancing. The beach is only 660 feet (200 m) long and can seem crowded at peak times. Little Beach is one of the few Hawaiian beaches where local police tolerate nude sunbathing (another is Red Sand Beach near Hāna). Black Sand Beach, also known as "Naupaka Beach", is one of the least used beaches on Maui. Black Sand Beach has its own road and a parking lot right on the edge of the beach, and allows easy access. Puʻu Olai is a dormant volcanic cinder cone in the center of the park with a height of 360 feet (110 m).

Thursday 22nd March; The people of Bournemouth woke up to a big surprise - in fact a 8.5 meter tall and 5.5 meter wide surprise. The Giant deck chair was created by sculptor Stuart Murdoch and produced to promote the drinks brand Pimm's.

Tropical Storm Beryl at Mickler's Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL!

Tropical storm conditions were forecast Sunday for areas of the Atlantic coast from northeastern Florida to southern South Carolina as Tropical Storm Beryl approached, forecasters said.

Beryl was slowly gaining intensity on Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center, and will dump several inches of rain and bring high winds and coastal flooding to the area, putting a damper on the holiday weekend. The storm is forecast to make landfall in northeastern Florida Sunday night. This was taken about 1:00 p.m. Sunday May 27th at Mickler's Landing in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL before the tropical storm Beryl - not supposed to hit until later tonight.

Riu Tropical Palace - Negril, Jamaica - May 2012!

There are nightly shows, mostly dancing with lip-syncing. The animation staff were less pushy compared to the other Riu. The crowd at this resort was mostly older, mostly Americans, Canadians, Germans. At around 11PM they turned on the lights and people were starting to go to bed. There is no disco at this resort. Both Rius are located on the Bloody Bay. So, if you want to go out, you need to take a taxi to the disco at the other Riu or to one of the popular places near the main seven mile beach, such as Jungle.

Mahi-mahi fishing Tahitian style!

This is a unique technique of fishing that only Tahitian fishermen have mastered. The boat captain drives the boat with 1 hand and harpoons the mahi-mahi with the other after chasing it for a few minutes until it gets tired. For some reason, mahi mahi's only stay at the surface when being chased instead of diving. Amazing to see!!!

Tahiti is the largest island in the Windward group of French Polynesia, located in the archipelago of the Society Islands in the southern Pacific Ocean. It is the economic, cultural and political centre of French Polynesia.

The island was formed from volcanic activity and is high and mountainous with surrounding coral reefs. November to April is the wet season, the wettest month of which is January with 13.2 in (340 mm) of rain in Papeetē. August is the driest with 1.9 in (48 mm). The average temperature ranges between 21 °C (70 °F) and 31 °C (88 °F) with little seasonal variation.

Paragliding is the recreational and competitive adventure sport of flying paragliders: lightweight, free-flying, foot-launched glider aircraft with no rigid primary structure. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a hollow fabric wing whose shape is formed by its suspension lines, the pressure of air entering vents in the front of the wing and the aerodynamic forces of the air flowing over the outside.
